Cummins Inc. is seeking an IT Director – Enterprise Data Management in Columbus, Indiana.The ideal candidate will have the ability to influence stakeholders throughout the organization, will have in depth experience in business change data-related initiatives having a significant technology component, and will be an innovative self-starter who is able to translate business needs into attainable plans. This individual will be on the senior leadership team of a new organization serving all of Cummins with key stakeholders being IT Function, Advanced Analytics and Digital Accelerator organization. The candidate should be able to understand the complexities of the organization, processes, data/information, and technologies then built future-state models to best realize the organization strategy. This individual will be able to act autonomously and actively bring forward ideas and recommendations to further the success of company specific to data.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Manages a team of senior level IT Employees.

  • Participate as a key member of a senior level IT Management Team.

  • Responsible for a significant area within IT from a scope perspective

  • Provide input to development of IT Strategies.

  • Responsible for team financial management including AOP, budget management, and forecasting.

  • Responsible for People Management including work plan development, performance management, and people development.

  • Responsible for team building and development including organization structure, recruiting, global team management.

  • Compile and present Management Reports on team performance including metrics, deliverable status, etc.

  • Communicate status to senior management – IT and business.

  • Accountable for Six Sigma training, usage and goal attainment for the team.

  • Ensure team adherence to all IT processes, policies, and procedures including IT Security.

  • Responsible of IT Controls compliance for the team

  • Engagement with customers in their respective function or business area.

  • Governance/Leadership for all program/projects executed or supported by their teams.

Strategic Roadmap Planning - Produces a high-level, multi-year product and capability roadmap utilizing internal and external business resource, asset and market knowledge and experience to communicate the organization's focus and priorities to internal and external stakeholders

Release Planning - Plans and manages the release of capabilities, features or products using inputs from the prioritized roadmap, planning, available resources and skills to communicate expected availability and releases of capability.

Project Resource Management - Develops resource (expense and headcount) plans using recommended project management tools and processes to manage resources effectively.

Our industry and markets continue to evolve, and access to accurate, reliable, and secure data is vital to our digital transformation. As we continue our own digital transformation, we will collect and have access to more data about our end products and our internal manufacturing and business systems than ever before. We must address this growing need for more mature Data management practices as the regulatory landscape within data changes and increases in complexity.

Accountabilities include:

  • Working directly with the Senior Leadership (IT and Business) team to consult, coach, and advise on data-related strategies, business alignment, the associated impact on the organization and their stakeholders

  • Coordination of the resolution of highly complex problems and tasks, selling new ideas and concepts in support of operational goals and objectives

  • Providing technical and analytical guidance to the enterprise architecture team and integrate and translate complex concepts into tactical action plans

  • Collaboration across various teams to establish and update global data related policies, standards, and processes to ensure compliance

  • Establishing data governance, implementing rules of engagement, decision rights, and the accountabilities for effective management of information asset

  • Understanding and maximizing data quality for designing, building and supporting a robust, scalable and secure platform for management of our global Enterprise Data assets for establishing and managing CMI Data Management principles that ensure solutions are designed for compliance yet, maximum value

  • Defining an architecture and a collection of integrated decision-support applications and databases – providing the business community easy access to business data

  • A comprehensive global data storage/warehouse strategy that provides consistent, secure, clean, and integrated data

  • Leadership of the team running day-to-day database administration services for all of Cummins

Education and Experience

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Information Technology, Business or a related subject required.

  • Significant level of relevant work experience, including managerial and budgetary experience, required.

  • Broad business knowledge required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base annual salary commensurate with experience plus annual variable compensation.
